Dining @ Tin Hau

There are several know of restaurants located at Tin Hau, which is a small residental area near Causeway bay. You can find BBQ, Japanese food, Korean food, dessert, traditional cha chaan teng, fast food, Thailand food etc there. Let have a look there, you can reach Tin Hau directly by MTR.

Japanese Food

I love Japanese Food! There are some gorgeous restaurants, some for set lunch/dinner, and some just for sushi.

Normally, we can find a Japanese Food Restaurant in any district, almost in every shopping arcade. In most area that tourist will go, you can find a series of Japanese Food Restaurant, from high class to "down-to-earth" type. Enjoy it. Most of the Japanese food in Hong Kong are in good quality and reasonable price. :)

Local Style Restaurant inside Municipal Services Building

This is the "in-house" version of Da Pai Dang.
They are inside the Cooked Food Markets of each Municipal Services Building, which is a public multifuncational area organized by the government. You can almost find more than one of such markets in each district. Normally, they are sharing with the wet market.

Shopping @ APM Millennium City

Another shopping mall in Hong Kong. Some of the shops in the mall operate till 2am, or even dawn.

You can enjoy shopping here, also you can have entertainment like cinema, karaoke and dining here.

The mall is located in Kwun Tong, which is a old district, however, you can walk across the MTR station to feel the typical Hong Kong old district at Yue Man Square. There are some stalls there selling street snacks like fish-ball, tou-fu-fa. Therefore, you can see the difference of modern and old Hong Kong in Kwun Tong.

Western Market (西港城)


Western Market (上環街市) is an old building. It is a "Declared Monument which was built in 1908. It was really a wet market twenty years ago. However, the newly market complex was built nearby, and this building is quite classic in style, so the government keep it and convert it to current status. It was reopened in 1991. The English name reamins Western Market, but the Chinese name is changed to 西港城.
The ground floor of the building is now facilited with small shops selling gifts/sovenirs. There are several shops selling bus models there, they will organize "Bus Model" exhibitions every year.

The second floor are the so called "Cloth Street", different kinds of "cloth" can be found at this level.

The third floor is a Chinese Restaurant.

The market also organize flea market during weekends.

Transport: Exit C, MTR Sheung Wan Station and walk westward along the tramway for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Another Chinese Style Breakfast

Besides "Yum Cha" and "Yum Sai Cha", congree, "Rice noodle roll (Cheung Fan, 腸粉)" and fried noodles are typical canton style breakfast in Hong Kong. Last week, I went to have this for my breakfast. We also ordered "Yao Tiao" and "Soy Milk" (豆漿).

It is yummy that this kind of Chinese Style Breakfast are still very popular in Hong Kong, especially in Winter. The hot congee make people feel very warm. This kind of restaurant is normally known as "Congee Shop" (粥鋪, 粥店).
"Yao Tiao"(油條, 油炸鬼) are only deep fried flour, however, it is cripsy, so it is very good taste.

"Cheung Fan" is maded by rice noodle, it delicious by adding a little bit soy and sweet sauce.



Rice Noodle Roll is also translated as "Steamed Noodle Roll".

You can find these food at Oceanic Empire Restaurant (海皇粥店), which is a chained congee shop, also, those food are provided for the whole day, not only breakfast.

Steamed Rice - $21
A set meal can be DIY, about $30-40 per head.
